Dan is a fully qualified fitness, martial arts and Pilate’s instructor. Dan’s busy lifestyle includes his 2 daughters and he has been a Director of Nutkins for the past year.

During the 2010 father’s story week he introduced the children to some fitness training, which they certainly enjoyed..

My name is Kathryn Parker, more commonly know as “Rebekah’s mum”, and you will probably have seen me running down the road at pick-up time because I’m usually running late.

All three of my children have been through Nutkins starting with Josh who is now 9, then Mali, now 5, and finally Rebekah who is 3. I enjoy helping out on the Nutkins jaunts whenever I can and being a member of the Board gives me a better insight into all the work that goes on behind the scenes at Nutkins.

I’ve been married to Ashleigh for nearly 11 years and we’ve lived in Peverell for the last 8 years. At the moment I work part time on the checkouts at Morrisons.

Life with three children is busy and chaotic most of the time but we enjoy getting out and about on the moors or the beach, sometimes staying closer to home tending to (and often getting frustrated with) our allotment on the edge of central park.

I’m Kim Ash and have been associated with Nutkins April 2003 when my eldest child, Luke started. Since then I have supported them well with Isaac, then Ethan and definitely finally Lydia! During this time I have also been a regular attendee of Hope Baptist Toddler group; and team entry in the not so successful annual community quiz!

I work alongside my husband, Taran, in our Christian work with Solomon’s Porch when our time is not sought by Nutkins for recording purposes. Taran and I often toiled through the wee small hours editing the tracks on the recorded Nativity CD until we had perfection and it was cut. It hugely supported the children in the nativity; and my final commitment was to sing a solo on the day and my job was done – until the next time!

I have been Chair of the board of Directors for the past 2 years and have supported as many activities as is possible; the most memorable being supporting the funding application for the new porta-loo.

Community

I left my job at Nutkins in 2000 as I had 3 other jobs at the time and I could not manage them all so very reluctantly I handed in my notice. I have however never left Nutkins Pre-School as my heart has always been there and when the staff explored some options in becoming a community business I did not hesitate to join them as a volunteer on their board of directors where I have remained ever since.

This is Beryl a stalwart member of life within the local community at Peverell. She is married with two children and six grandchildren. Apart from two years in East Anglia she has lived in Plymouth. Before marriage she worked as a Secretary.

After her children were born she spent ten years at home. Once they were more independent she returned to work mainly in administrative positions. Finally she was a School Administrator for twenty years followed by three years as a Clerk to Governors.

She has been married to Pete for 50+ years and is now often a “golf widow”! They were voted south west best grandparents in 2003, nominated by their granddaughter, Claire, and narrowly missed winning the national competition in London.

Beryl co-ordinates the Toddlers, and Mums & Babies Groups, within the Church where she is also the Church Secretary. These responsibilities keep her very busy. As if life isn’t busy enough she is the minute’s secretary for Nutkins, a supporter in all activities and an excellent cake maker!

For relaxation she loves spending time with her family, walking, theatre and having friends round for meals.

I am a former employee at Nutkins, having worked there for years since my own 2 children were little. I have now reached an age of certain wisdom and retired years ago! I still enjoy the contact with the children, helping to keep me youthful, and I regularly visit as the story teller. I enjoy reading to the children and it helps me to learn their names for the occasions that I am called in on “supply”.

I have been married to my husband, John, for 40 years and have always lived in Peverell. With more time on our hands we enjoy our chalet at Bovisand Beach; and my main hobby is swimming in the sea, which I do all year round!
